Austin Center RADIATION Oncology

urology austin

Urology Austin was established as a collaboration of several independent urology practices in Central Texas. Now with over 50 healthcare practitioners, it is the largest urology group in the Austin metro area. At Urology Austin, our providers treat all aspects of urological health, including a large population of patients diagnosed with urological cancers.

In 2009, Urology Austin opened the Austin Center for Radiation Oncology (ACFRO) as a way to offer their cancer patients personalized, state-of-the-art radiation treatment close to home. In doing so, this allowed patients to receive radiation treatments while staying connected to their diagnosing urologist. From the beginning, the goal of Urology Austin has been to offer exemplary care, while maintaining a close relationship with patients.

When Dr. Richard Garza, Radiation Oncologist, brought his expertise to The Austin Center for Radiation Oncology in 2012, he echoed our commitment to individualized, exceptional care, and has built a team that reflects that objective. While treating various forms of urological cancers, The Austin Center for Radiation Oncology specializes in the treatment of prostate cancer. During his tenure, Dr. Garza, and his team, has positioned ACFRO as a high-volume prostate cancer radiation center for men across Texas. Urology Austin is very proud of this accomplishment, and is honored to receive positive feedback and accolades from the patients we serve at ACFRO.

Urology Austin is committed to continued growth at The Austin Center for Radiation Oncology. In 2019, we expanded the facility by adding a second radiation vault. This expansion brings more front line technology to better serve our patient base.

In March 2022, we welcomed a second Radiation Oncologist – Dr. NIraj Pahlajani. Dr. Pahlajani joined ACFRO following years of service as a Radiation Oncologist at Baylor Scott and White Health – Temple,  and the START Center for Cancer Care in San Antonio. Dr. Pahlajani strives to provide comprehensive, state of the art, evidence-based cancer care in an empathetic and compassionate way. He firmly believes in patient education to discuss the risks and benefits of radiation treatments so that patients can make an informed decision about their health.

Even though we are growing, Urology Austin and The Austin Center for Radiation Oncology – providers and staff – are dedicated to treating our patients with dignity, compassion, and professionalism at all times. We are also very humbled, and wish to thank the patients who have entrusted us with their care.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with prostate, testicular, bone, or bladder cancer, we encourage you to call The Austin Center for Radiation Oncology at 512-687-1950 to schedule a consultation.
